Treating Food Selectivity Without Tears: Education, Application, and Implementation

In this course, professionals will receive support from an FTF Senior Consultant as they design and implement a food selectivity assessment and treatment process for one of their own clients/students. This approach is suitable for children with and without developmental disabilities, as well as for adolescents and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It is intended for clients who have been medically cleared to receive behavioral intervention for food selectivity (there are no identifiable medical explanations for eating problems) and who are able to chew and swallow table-textured foods.

The course consists of 36.5 hours of synchronous and asynchronous instruction, including 7.5 hours of pre-recorded video instruction. Weekly synchronous classes held via Zoom videoconference will focus on planning, progress review, and problem-solving for attendees’ cases. Attendance in live classes and completion of on-demand content will yield 13 BACB Learning CEUs (1 ethics and 12 general).

Attendees should have experience implementing the PFA/SBT processes for severe problem behavior, as familiarity with these concepts and procedures will be assumed.

A pre-requisite for taking the course is having a client ready to begin the food selectivity assessment and treatment process at the start of the course. The client/their guardians must consent to participate, in that data and video clips of assessment and treatment sessions will be shared in class meetings with the instructor and other attendees for discussion and feedback.
