FTF Behavioral Consulting provides three distinct alternative pathways to credentialing for non-traditional applicants: The Alternative Pathway without Supervision, The Alternative Pathway with Supervision I (USA & Canada), and The Alternative Pathway with Supervision II (International). These pathways are tailored for professionals who have obtained application and implementation experience outside of FTF.

With unique objectives and protocols, these alternative credentialing pathways evaluate a professionals individual experiences related to the Practical Functional Assessment (PFA) and Skill-Based Treatment (SBT) processes, while also acknowledging their education, application, and implementation experiences.

As a credentialed professional, you will:

  • Receive independent verification of training and experience (consistent with requirements of Code 1.05; Behavior Analyst Certification Board®, 2020)
  • Obtain a certificate and a wallet card verifying completion of requirements for your credentialed level
  • Be featured on the FTF Credential Directory which will allow potential clients to connect with you
  • Be invited to FTF’s Big Ideas and New Discoveries, an advanced topics interactive seminar organized exclusively for credentialed professionals

If you are considering an alternative path to achieve credentialing, please read on for a comprehensive overview of the three distinct pathways. This section will provide you with essential information regarding application instructions, requirements, necessary documentation, and any limitations.

The alternative pathway leads to implementation credentials (i.e., Level 3 or 4). For subsequent credentials (i.e., Level 5 or 6), we strongly encourage you to follow the traditional path (i.e., advanced coursework, advanced design session, and advanced live courses).  Please take the time to thoroughly review FTF’s policies and procedures for alternative paths to credentialing provided below.

Note. For professionals who have received education, application, and implementation experience via consultation, direct supervision, or indirect supervision (i.e., FTF’s TTT Model) from FTF Behavioral Consulting, you can find information regarding our traditional pathway here.

Alternative Pathways

Alternative Pathway without Supervision

The Alternative Pathway without Supervision provides recognition of education, application, and implementation experience. These policies and procedures apply to applicants for credentialing who have obtained valuable application and implementation experience outside of FTF. Eligible applicants can achieve Level 3 or Level 4 credentials upon fulfilling all the Alternative Pathway without Supervision requirements outlined below:

Requirements:

  • Complete FTF on-demand PFA/SBT course or attend full-day presentation by FTF.

Submit course completion certificate with application dated January 2019, or later. Non-FTF presentations or coursework, including presentations by Level 6 credentialed practitioners, do not meet this requirement because it is not possible for FTF to effectively monitor quality.

Note. Evidence (i.e., workbook, video, data) from step 2 of the process (Open-Ended Interview) to at least step 16 of the process (CAB 5) for the same client is required.

Fee of US$300

Important. Applications are reviewed in the order they are received. Please allow at least 45 business days for review. Applications that do not meet the evaluation requirements will be returned with feedback. To ensure your case presentation meets evaluation standards, please first review FTF’s Alternative Pathway Guidelines and Scoring Rubric. Each resubmission will require an additional US$150 fee.
